15 RU BCL men sued

A case has been filed yesterday by an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League, a student wing of ruling Awami League of Rajshahi University (RU) unit, against 15 fellows over assaulting another fellow named Tareq Ahmed Khan a day before.

Humayun Kabir, officer in charge of Chandrima Thana, said “BCL leader Socrates alias Jibon, planning affairs secretary, in favour of the victim Tareq Ahmed Khan Shanto, relief and disaster affairs secretary of the university unit, filed the complaint against them and we take it as case”.

The accused BCL men are joint secretary Saif Karim Rupom, deputy-training secretary Kawsar Islam, assistant secretary Hasibul Hasan Shanto and activist Shamim Shikder.

Mentionable, Tareq Ahmed Khan, also a third year student of Marketing Department, has been assaulted on Monday noon accusing leaking information over forgery of RU admission test. Tareq was rushed to university medical centre later he was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.  On the other hand, accused leader Rupom’s room at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman hall has been allegedly locked by RU president Golam Kibria.

With the presence of RU unit president, senior vice president Miznanur Rahman Sinha locked the room no: 229 of the hall around 8pm on Tuesday night. The roor was locked till filling the report around 6pm on Wednesday.

Wishing anonymity BCL senior leaders said Rupom left Kibria’s group that’s why they locked his room. Rupom said, “I followed RU president Kibria since six years and got post joint secretary of the campus unit. Kibria took various wrong decisions and I criticised him several times. That’s why he along with his followers and activists locked my room.

However, BCL RU unit president Golam Kibria was not available for his comments over phone despite repeated attempts.

BCL RU unit general secretary Faisal Ahmed Runu said that he was aware of the incident and would sit to discuss over the issue with both of them.
