Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will soon open the much-talked-about bridge over Choto Feni river here through video conference and it will be fit for plying of vehicles this month, said sources.
About 95 per cent of the construction works under the project have been completed and the rest is expected to take only three to four days, the sources added.
Sources in the roads and highway department told this correspondent that the bridge will ease communication for locals. The bridge, which is 478 m in length and 10. 25 m in width, is being built at a cost of Tk. 78 crore. It has 11 spans and 55 guards.
The construction works for this bridge started in 2016. Though the deadline of the project expired on June 30 this year, it was extended for some more work, said Binoy Kumar Pal, executive engineer of the Noakhali roads and highway department.
The Dhaka-based construction firms Messers Saleh Ahmed and BD farms are building the bridge.
