Aiming to highlight the extra-curricular talents of the children, Bangladesh Shishu Academy arranged a national level contest titled ‘41st Moushumi Children Competition’, where the child artistes from eight divisions participated. The prize distribution ceremony of the national level competition was held on the Academy premises on Sunday.
Children from Mymensingh division received awards in the quiz competition category, while Rangpur division received award in group dances, Bogra district from Rajshahi division received award for debate competition, children of Jessore district from Khulna division received the award for wall magazine and child artistes of Kishoreganj district from Dhaka division awarded for a chorus rendition of a patriotic song.
The programme began with a cultural event featuring music, dance and poetry recitation. At the event, a discussion was also held. Presided over by Shishu Academy chairman Selina Hossain, state minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki was present as special guest, while secretary of the ministry Nasima Begum was present as special guest.
Earlier, children from eight divisions took part in upazila level competition, then district level and division level. In the division level, child artistes took part in five categories-- quiz, group dance, debates, wall magazine and chorus patriotic rendition.
