The name of three-time National Film Award winning actress Sadika Parvin Popy is synonymous with many commercially successful films. Though the actress has always been satisfied with her acting career after recognised with the prestigious National Film Award, she had a desire to play Parvati, an iconic character created by prominent Bengali novelist and short story writer Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, in the film.
However, young filmmaker Arifur Jaman Arif has come forward to fulfil Popy’s long-awaited desire. Consequently, Popy has been casted as Parvati in Arif’s maiden big screen venture ‘Kathgoray Sarat Chandra’. Meanwhile, Popy has acted in the role of Parvati. Paying full concentration to the character with the necessary preparation, Popy has appeared as real Parvati in front of the camera. The actress herself got fascinated with the role that she has portrayed utilizing her maximum talent.
Popy said, “‘Parvati is my dream role’. In our country, Kabori madam (actress Kabori Sarwar) had earlier played the role of Parvati for the first time under the direction of Chashi Nazrul Islam sir. I was amazed with her performance on the silver screen. Since then, I cherished a dream of playing the role. I always wondered that if I would be given a chance to play the role, I will leave no stone untouched. Finally, I got the opportunity, and I have played the role paying proper attention. I don’t know how it would entertain the viewers.”
Director Arif said, “It was a new challenge for me selecting actress Popy as Parvati. Now, I am really fascinated with her acting in this role. She has done a great job, which is beyond my expectation. She has proven herself in the role of Parvati as a real actress.
DhakaLive has news that half of shooting for the film has already been completed in the meantime. The second phase of the shooting will begin soon, director informed.
To note, popular actor Ferdous will be seen appearing as Devdas in ‘Kathgoray Sarat Chandra’.
