The government is giving honorary allowance to 1, 84,961 freedom fighters from 2008-09 to 2017-18 financial years, reports BSS. “Each general freedom fighter/freedom fighter’s family is getting Tk 10,000 per month from 2016-17 along with two festival allowance of the same amount,” Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ministry AKM Mozammel Hoque said this while replying to a starred question from opposition bench member Rawshan Ara Mannan in the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday.

He said the government is giving Tk 5,000 as victory day allowance and Tk 2,000 as Baishakhi allowance during the present financial year.

Presently, the government has given charge to district/upazila/city corporation allowance committee for including and suspending in the freedom fihgter’s list, the minister said.
