Who doesn’t know the fact that the textile sector plays an extraordinary role in the economy of Bangladesh? Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) plays the pioneering role in creating artisans for the textile sector _ the textile engineers. But most of the time, it takes the engineers quite some time to get used to the corporate life of the textile industry. The main reason is though they are technically skilled, they are not accustomed to the corporate style of action. But to shine in the textile sector in a short time, one needs to be good not only in technical knowledge, but also in business knowledge. So, it was high time to create a bridge between engineering knowledge and business methodology.

Keeping this goal in mind, five enthusiastic students of the 39th batch of BUTEX dreamt of forming a club that would build this bridge. A bridge that would help students meet with successful corporate masterminds from the textile world. Thus, BUTEX Business Club (BUTEXBC) was formed. Since its inception on August 28, 2016, BUTEXBC is on a mission to foster leadership through the development of its students, instilling professionalism among them and by partnering with leading organisations to create opportunities for professional growth and inspire them to become future entrepreneurs. This vision is recognised as the top textile professional network of the country.

BUTEX Business Club has been trying to engage the students in different competitions and seminars. The club is run by a few dedicated hardworking students, who are selected through some stages of interview procedure. The club maintains transparency, so all the club members know the details of every financial transaction after an event. The club basically emphasizes on the flagship event of inter-university business case-solving competition known as ‘Texbiz’.

Texbiz is the platform where students can display their innovative business strategy ideas to successful big shots of the country. Besides Texbiz, the club arranges events like professional talks, entrepreneurial talks and presentation skills development training for the students of BUTEX. These programmes enable them to come face to face with successful businesspeople of the country who share their life experiences, as well as success and failure stories, with all. Such initiatives help to develop and inspire the future leaders of the textile sector.   

With all these programmes in hand and big dreams in mind, the purpose of the club is to meet the needs, serve and connect diverse students across the country by making them aware about the present scenario of the textile industry, and motivate them to become professional leaders.
