KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) has signed MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) on the Project called “Digital Municipality Service System” with ICT Division, LGD (Local Government Division) and a2i Programme (Prime Minister’s Office) on Monday.
The “Digital Municipality Service System” project’s aim is to establish a digital platform in municipality sector to manage all types of resources in an organised, effective and efficiency way and provide one-stop fast services to the people of Bangladesh.
Telecommunication and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar and on behalf of concerned organisations Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan, senior secretary of LGD, Subir Kishore Choudhury, secretary, ICTD, Mustafizur Rahman, project director, a2i and Joe Hyun-Gue, country director, KOICA Bangladesh Office were present in the signing ceremony, says a press release.
This MoU targets to further accelerate the adoption of digital service and execute e-Government by digitalising 10 municipalities (Tungipara, Ramgati, Faridpur, Jhenidah, Natore, Singra, Pirganj, Tarabo, Mymensingh, and Sirajganj) in Bangladesh.
The project is expected to open new horizons for Bangladesh by making available of the easy process of getting public services like property management, online councilor certificate, holding tax, water bill etc. within a single system and the citizens would get all services through online, also by mobile devices.
