Chinese companies create jobs in Bangladesh

A number of projects undertaken by Chinese companies in Bangladesh are progressing well. They have provided many jobs for local people and have promoted further economic and trade relations between China and Bangladesh.

Zhang Zuo, the Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh, inspected four local projects overseen by Chinese companies on April 25.

The construction of factory of Amigo Bangladesh Limited and its ancillary facilities is undertaken by the China Railway Port and Channel Engineering Group. The company is a major garment maker in the Bangladesh. The project has provided more than 1,000 jobs for local people and trained nearly 100 engineering and management personnel, professional technicians and equipment operators.

Ghorasal 365 MW Gas-fired Combined Cycle Power Plant is undertaken by China National Technical Import and Export Corporation. Its facilities have been incorporated into Bangladesh’s electricity grid and are producing a large amount of power. During its construction, the project provided more than 500 jobs for the local people and cumulatively trained 3,000 others.

China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation undertook the upgrading and reconstruction of Ghorasal Unit 3. This work is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of the unit’s natural gas combustion processes. This project provided more than 500 jobs for the local community.

In addition, the transformation of Ghorasal Unit 4, undertaken by China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Power Engineering Company, is also progressing smoothly.

Ambassador Zhang Zuo, during his inspection, said that China-funded companies in Bangladesh should become better involved in the development strategy of Bangladesh. In this way, such companies can be models for achieving shared growth through collaboration. The Chinese-funded companies in Bangladesh vowed to operate in compliance with local laws and regulations, actively fulfil their corporate social responsibilities(CSR), establish great reputations for Chinese companies operating aborad and make contributions to the further development of China-Bangladesh economic and trade relations.
