Sirajul Islam, Shabnam Mustari receive �Nazrul Award 2014�

Nazrul Award-2014 has been given for the year 2015. Professor emirates Sirajul Islam Chowdhury and Nazrul Sangeet singer Shabnam Mustari has been honoured with the prestigious award this year for their outstanding contributions to literature and music respectively. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor addressed the programme as the chief guest and handed over the Nazrul Award to the recipients on Thursday at a programme held in Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). Nazrul Institute, in collaboration with BSA, organised an elaborate programme followed by award giving ceremony to observe the 39th death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Cultural Affairs Secretary Begum Akhtari Momotaz, Nazrul Institute Trustee Board Chairman Professor Emeritus Dr Rafiqul Islam and Nazrul Institute Executive Director Ekram Ahmed spoke on the occasion. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General Liyakat Ali Lucky chaired the programme.
Sirajul Islam Chowdhury shared his feeling after receiving the award, receiving the award is very prestigious, because the name associated with it is that of of Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Shabnam Mustari said, I accept this award because I believe the love of the people is associated with it. After award giving ceremony, BSA repertory music troupe and artistes of Nazrul Institute presented chorus while Jayanta Chattopadhyay, Laila Afroz, Sima Islam and Dr Shahadat Hossain Nipu recited solo poems.
Noted singer Khalid Hossain, Shahin Samad, Fatema- Tuz-Zohra, Khairul Anam Shakil, Yasmin Mushtari, and Dr Leena Taposhi Khan among others rendered solo songs in the programme. l
