Final charge sheet against 13 approved

The Anti Corruption Commission has approved the charge sheet after completion of final investigation of a case filed against 13 officers of the Railways for the illegal appointment of auditors, reports UNB. ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar told UNB about the final charge sheet. The Commission filed the case with Kotwali Police Station on March 10, 2017, while Deputy Director of Anti-Corruption Commission (Headquarter) Nasir Uddin was the investigation officer.

The ACC case was initially filed against 6 individuals: the present Director General of the Civil Audit Directorate Nazrul Islam; now retired, but then the Accounts Officer (Administration/All/ East) Chittagong; the current deputy director(Administration) GM Mamunur Rashid; DFA/ Pension (Chittagong) AFM Shahid Ullah; DFA (Sadar) Chittagong Mohammad Anisul Haque and Auditor, AO/Depot/Pahartali, Chittagong Hosna Akhter.

The final investigation submitted its report including another seven officials in connection with the case to the charge-sheet.

The newly included are Auditor of DFA, Dhaka Office Farzana Sultana; Auditor (DFA) Central Locomotive Factory of Parbatipur, Dinajpur Mohammad Nurul Amin; Auditor (Administration Branch), Accounting Division in Chittagong Sanchita Sadek; Auditor MV, DFA (Procurement / West) in Rajshahi Apurba Visyas; Auditor of TAO and AO / Squad / West, Rajshahi MM Abul Kalam; Auditor of DFA, Dhaka Office Md Moniruzzaman and Auditor of DPM (Syedpur), Nilphamari Pradeep Kumar Sarkar.

Officers (accused) mentioned in serial no 1 to 5 in the accounts department of Bangladesh Railway were appointed as the member of the selection committee for the new recruitment of the officials. But they misused their power to recruit the new officers serial number 6 to 13 of the Audit department.
