Development fair begins

GAIBANDHA: A three-day long development fair-2018 will begin today at district and upazila headquarters here as elsewhere in the country with the theme of “Role Model of Development, Sheikh Hasina’s Bangladesh”, reports BSS.

The main objective of the fair is to focus and inform the people about the development activities of the government, its success and ongoing development programmes taken by the government to build Bangladesh a middle income country by 2021 and a developed one by 2041.

The district administration has taken up necessary measures to hold the fair on Independence Square of the town.

On the occasion, a grand rally would be brought out from Independence Square and ended at the same venue after parading the main thoroughfares of the town on Thursday morning around 9.30 am. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally inaugurate the fair on Thursday morning through video conferencing held at Ganabhaban, Dhaka.

The three day programmes include reality show, quiz and debate competition and cultural function and prize distribution among the winners.

Talking to the BSS, deputy commissioner (DC) Gautam Chandra Pal said almost all the government offices here were instructed to set up stalls in the fair displaying their departmental development activities through projectors.

In reply to a question, the DC said all-out preparations had already been completed to hold the fair in a befitting manner.

Similar fairs will also be held at upazila headquarters of the district at the management of the respective upazila administration, the DC added.
