At 08:14 AM, December 26, 2017, the G1372 train bounded for Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station pulled out of Kunming South Railway Station. Unlike other EMU trains at Kunming South High-speed Railway Station, G1372 adopted “Fuxing” EMU train, which completed its maiden commercial operation on the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail line at a speed of 350 kilometres per hour on September 21, 2017.
China Railway Corporation organised domestic enterprises, universities and scientific research institutes to develop and manufacture “Fuxing,” a Chinese standard EMU train expected to run at a speed of 350 kilometres per hour. It integrates a large number of modern high technologies, greatly improving safety, economy, comfort, energy efficiency and environmental protection performance. All the cars of “Fuxing” provide WiFi Internet access and uninterrupted 220V power outlets. The air conditioning system takes into full consideration the impact of the pressure wave outside the vehicle, so as to prevent the passengers’ ears from feeling uncomfortable when the train passes through a tunnel or two trains meet. In order to ensure the normal operation of “Fuxing” in Yunnan, Kunming Depot sent personnel to Shanghai for an intensive training session.
December 26, 2017 marked the first anniversary of the high-speed rail in Yunnan province. In the past year, the high-speed rail transported a total of 12.02 million passengers and up to 72 pairs of EMU trains operated on a daily basis.
