Detectives busted a yaba factory at Bapari Para under Double Mooring Police Station in the city on Tuesday.During the drive police arrested four people involved in producing yaba tablets, seized 105kg raw materials of yaba, 2.5 lakh yaba tablets, two machines and huge instrument for producing yaba tablets.
The arrestees are Shymol Mazumdar,37, Abdullah Al Aman, 34, Ayesha Siddiqua, 27, and Md Mamun Hossain, 32.
Mohammad Mohsin, inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) said acting on tip-off, a team of DB police busted the factory on Tuesday and recovered 105kg raw materials.
He informed that by these materials at least 10 lakh yaba would be possible to produce. Moreover, 2.5 lakh yaba was also recovered along with huge instrument used for making the drug.
Hasan Mohammad Sowkat Ali, deputy commissioner of DB (West) of CMP at a press briefing held at CMP headquarters yesterday (Wednesday) said being informed detectives conducted the drive on second floor of five-story building owned by Abul Hossain at Commissioner Goli in Bapari Para around 10:30pm on Tuesday.
Among the arrestees ---Shymal Mazumdar and Mamun Hossain were producing yaba collecting raw materials from the local markets and smuggling to the different areas of the city by Aman.
