The children-based film ‘Ankhi O Tar Bondhura’, directed by filmmaker Morshedul Islam and made with a government grant, was released yesterday in six cinemas across the country, including the capital’s Star Cineplex and Jamuna Blockbuster, Pix Cineplex, Mymensingh’s Chhayabani and Khulna’s Liberty.
This is the third child-based film of director Morshedul Islam. Earlier, he had made ‘Dipu Number 2’ and ‘Amar Bondhu Rashed’, which were highly successful.
Based on a popular novel by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal with the same title, ‘Akhi O Tar Bondhura’ has been produced by Impress Telefilm.
It is the story of Ankhi, a blind girl who comes to study in a general school. With support from a new headmistress, Dr Raisa, her classmate Titu and others, Ankhi feels included.
When the students go to Bandarban to celebrate their victory as champions in a school cricket tournament, they are caught by human traffickers. However, because of their smartness and bravery, they manage to escape and get the criminals arrested.
Ankhi's story inspires other specially-abled children to join the school.
Zahin Nawar Haque plays the role of Ankhi, while other characters in the film have been essayed by Ananya Samael, Syed Ashiquzzaman, Afsana Mahmud, S.M. Mohsin and others.
The other important cast members include seasoned actors Subarna Mustafa, Tariq Anam Khan, Al Mansur, SM Mohsin, Mannan Hira, Munira Yousuf Memi and Sushmita Sinha.
