The nation is observing the National Mourning Day and the 40th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, by arranging different programmes. To mark the 40th death anniversary of Bangabandhu, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organized a discussion and cultural programmes with the theme ‘Shilper Aloy Bangabandhu’ at the National Theatre Hall of BSA.
Yesterday, on the first day of the event, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present at the discussion programme as chief guest and presided over by director general of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky, private secretary of Bangabandhu Mohammad Farashuddin was present as special guest. Senior Secretary of Ministry of Public Administration Dr. Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury participated as discussant at the event.
Today, cultural programmes with a variety of segments featuring discussion, choras and solo songs, recitation and group dance will be held at the same place at 6pm.
Presided over by director general of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky, Food Minister Qamrul Islam will attend the discussion session as chief guest, while Cultural Affairs Acting Secretary Begum Akhtari Momtaz, Dhaka University pro-vice chancellor Professor Dr Nasrin Ahmed, Bangladesh Public Service Commission member Ujjal Bikash Dutta and poet Nirmalendu Goon will attend the programme as special guests.
After the discussion, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Repertory Dance Troupe, Dhaka Sangskritik Dal, dance troupe Spandan, Nrityam along with many renowned and young artistes will take part in the cultural session.
A three day exhibition titled ‘Chitrrogathai Shokgatha’ on rare photos of Bangabandhu is currently on display at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the capital. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the exhibition on Thursday. Organised by The Dhaka North City Corporation, the exhibition is open to all from 11am to 10pm till today.
Gallery Cosmos is also observing the 40th death anniversary of Bangabandhu by arranging an 18-day art exhibition on Bangabandhu by 75 contemporary artists titled ‘Brave Heart’ at its premises in the city. l
