Recently, China’s first domestically produced tunnel-boring machine was used to dig a tunnel through the Gaoligong Mountains along the path of the Dali-Ruili Railway project.
It is reported that the 331-kilometre railway traverses a number of mighty mountain ranges. These include the Cangshan and Gaoligong ranges. When completed, the railroad will be an important part of the Trans-Asia International Railway, itself a part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
The Gaoligong Tunnel, with a total length of 34.538 kilometres, will be the longest railway tunnel in China.(Xinhua)
