The Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) admission result has been published on 9th August 2015. The combined success rate was 69.60 per cent which was down by 8.73 per cent than the previous year. A total of 42,894 students have obtained GPA-5 this year, while it was 70,602 in the previous year.Of 10,61,614 students who sat for the HSC and equivalent exams this year, a total of 3,22,742 students have failed in their exams.
One striking feature of this year’s exams is that girls have fared better than boys in terms of the pass percentage across all the boards. A total of 70.23 per cent female students passed their exams, while the pass percentage for boys is 69.04. However, the boys have grabbed 23,293 GPA-5, while the girls have obtained 19,601 GPA-5. Moreover, the number of educational institutions that achieved hundred per cent success is 1,133 compared to last year’s 1,147. No students from 35 educational institutions, out of 8,294, passed this years exams. The number was 24 last year.
The number of GPA-5 holders under the eight boards is 34,721 compared to last year’s 57,789. Under the Madrasa education board, 90.19 per cent students have passed this year, while it was 94.08 per cent last year. This means the pass rate has dropped by 3.89 per cent. This year 1,435 students have obtained GPA-5 under the Madrasa board, against last year’s 6,393. The average pass rate under technical education board is 85.58 per cent, while it was 85.02 per cent in the previous year. This means the pass rate has increased by 0.56 per cent. The number of GPA-5 holders is 6,430, while it was 6,393 last year.
Among the general education boards, Rajshahi board has topped with 77.54 per cent pass percentage, while Jesssore board has the lowest percentage with 46.45 per cent. The highest number of students (53.55 per cent) failed under Jessore board. Of them, 49.09 per cent have failed in English which has been held responsible for the board’s disastrous results.
Moreover, 74.57 per cent students have passed from Sylhet board, 70.43 per cent from Dinajpur board, 70.06 per cent from Barisal board, 68.16 per cent from Dhaka board, 63.49 per cent from Chittagong board and 59.80 per cent from Comilla board.
The exams began on April 1 and ended on June 11 this year in 2,420 centres.
