Runa Laila performs for BTV viewers after two decades

Alamgir attends the show as a guest anchored by Akhi Alamgir

After two long decades, the eminent singer of the subcontinent Runa Laila has performed for the viewers of Bangladesh Television (BTV). The internationally-acclaimed singer will be seen performing her popular songs in a show titled ‘Tomaderi Gaan Shunabo’ on BTV during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. Produced by Mahbuba Ferdous, the recording of the show has already been completed recently under the supervision of BTV Director General SM Harun Or Rashid.

However, what makes the show of Runa Laila more exclusive this time than her any other previous show on BTV is her husband veteran actor-producer-director Alamgir will be seen attending the show as a guest, and moreover, the show is anchored by Akhi Alamgir. Akhi Alamgir is also very happy with the opportunity of participating as an anchor in such a show, where three members of the same family have come on the same stage.

In this Eid show, Runa Laila has performed her notable songs like ‘Protidin Tomay Dekhi Surjer Age’, ‘Ganeri Khatay Swaralipi Likhe’, ‘Jokhon Thambe Kolahol’, ‘Bhulite Parine Tai Asiachi Path Bhuli’, ‘Amay Bhasailire’, ‘Kar Tore Nishi Jaho Rai’ and also two gajals.

Runa Laila said about performing in a show for BTV after a long time, “I have sung for BTV after about two decades. I felt really wonderful. Everything, including set design was very organised. On the whole, it was a pleasurable experience for me. Besides, Akhi’s hosting was also very nice. I hope the entire show will be enjoyable to the audience.”

Akhi said, “I am grateful to the BTV authority for keeping as an anchor in such a beautiful programme. I never thought I would get an opportunity of anchoring a show like this. I have tried my best to present an internationally-acclaimed artiste like Runa Laila through my presentation. My father’s presence in the show was also a big surprise for Runa aunty. Overall, the show seems to be a great one.”

Runa Laila’s ‘Tomaderi Gaan Shunabo’ will be aired during coming Eid-ul-Azha on BTV.

To note, Runa Laila performed in a show of BTV for the first time in 1974. Then, she performed for three or four times on BTV. She was seen performing on BTV for the last time in 1994. l
