Theatre troupe Theatre (Bailey Road) will stage its acclaimed play titled ‘Baramkhana’ today evening at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the capital. Inspired by Sunil Gangapadhyay’s novel ‘Moner Manush’, a narrative on the life and works of Lalon, the play is scripted by Pantho Shahriar and directed by Tropa Majumder. The first phase of the play narrates Lalon’s life. In this play, Lalon has been highlighted as a ‘Symbol’. It is a matter of sorrow that everything in this region becomes a subject of interest for personal use. And Lalon Sain is not an exception in this regard. He also becomes a victim of politics. The second phase depicts how people pay homage to Lalon through organising festivals. This part is more like a satirical depiction through vignettes such as government’s higher ups arrival at the festival; glimpses of a fair, song rendition by a Lalon singer on the stage.
The cast of the play includes Ferdousi Majumder, Ramendu Majumder, Paresh Acharya, Rashedul Aowal Shawon, Tamanna Islam, Tropa Majumder, Sekanul Islam Shahi, and Apon Ahsan among others.
Tickets will be available in front of the hall before the show. One can call to 01556340574 for advance ticket.
