Two Bangladeshi students, Bushra Tawfiq Chowdhury and her husband, Munawwar Mahmud Sohul got their PhDs from Virginia Tech, USA recently, within a week, in Computer Education and Electrical & Computer engineering respectively, says a press release.
Dr Bushra Chowdhury had her earlier education at Holy Cross school and college, Dhaka University and Johns Hopkins University, USA. Her doctoral research deals with teaching computational thinking at various levels. Dr Munawwar Sohul did pioneering research in Spectrum sharing and other related fields. Dr Sohul had his education from Comilla Cadet College, BUET, Imperial College, UK and University of Illinois at Carbondale before moving to Virginia Tech. The couple had taught at Brac University before heading for doctoral studies. Dr Sohul also taught in the Electrical Department of North South University.
Bushra is the eldest daughter of Dr Tawfiq Elahi Chowdhury, BB Adviser to the Prime Minister and Asma Tawfiq Chowdhury, daughter of Kabi Jasimuddin. Munawwar is the eldest son of ex Election Commissioner Sohul Hussain and Prof Monowara Sohul.
