New Delhi’s multi-specialty MAX Super Speciality Hospital, Saket has launched special treatment packages for Bangladeshis who are suffering from different chronic liver diseases.
Liver transplant surgeries are very expensive and Bangladeshi patients suffering from this ailment will receive special attention from MAX Super Speciality Hospital owned and operated by Max Healthcare Institute Limited, according to a press release received here yesterday.
To this end, an expert team from the hospital led by its specialist Dr. Subhash Gupta visited Dhaka on July 14 and held meetings with specialist and people concerned. The team also provided out-patient services for liver patients in Chittagong the following day.
Dr Gupta also met Professor Dr. Mohammad Ali of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery Department of BIRDEM, who performed the first ever liver transplantation in Bangladesh.
Dr. Ali lauded Dr Gupta for his role in treating liver diseases and termed him ‘an angel’ in the field. “The first liver transplant in Bangladesh was successfully completed at BIRDEM in 2010 where Dr. Gupta played a special role by providing technical assistance, expert surgeons and post transplant care,” Dr Ali said.
“Since 2005, my team is getting special support from Dr Gupta. Several Bangladeshi doctors went to India and received training under him. In one word, Dr. Gupta has been playing a very significant role in liver transplantation surgeries in our country," he added.
About 2,300 doctors and 10,000 staff works at 14 hospitals of Delhi-based Max Healthcare. Besides liver translation program, these hospitals offer different treatment facilities for various complicated diseases including renal, heart and bone marrow transplantation.
