Bangladeshi agency GD Assist, a subsidiary of Green Delta Insurance Limited, has paved the way for Bangladeshi individuals and corporate houses to receive treatment from the Malaysia's award-winning Mahkota Medical Centre (MMC).
A press release on Wednesday said the Global Health Asia-Pacific has awarded MMC for the Oncology (Surgical) Service Provider of the Year in Asia Pacific region.
This award recognises MMC for maintaining high standards in delivering quality cancer care leveraging state-of-the-art technologies in the field. The MMC, a JCI-accredited hospital in Malaysia, follows high quality and safety standards to safeguard its patients.
GD Assist provides value added services of healthcare in home and abroad.
Based on the Malaysian Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC)’s five-year study from 2010-2015, the overall survival rate for breast cancer patients treated in MMC is 81 per cent, comparable to that in the UK and Japan at 82 per cent.
In regards to the achievement, the hospital’s CEO Stanley Lam said the one-stop cancer centre offers comprehensive screening, detection, treatment, rehabilitation, psychosocial counselling, and post-treatment aesthetic care and support.
“We are committed to strengthening our integrated, holistic approach to cancer care and investing in new medical technologies to deliver better outcomes for our cancer patients,” the CEO said.
And now, going to this cutting-edge modern hospital is very easy for Bangladeshi patients. GD Assist provides medical value travel and end-to-end healthcare services to individuals as well as corporate clients in Bangladesh.
GD Assist is the official representative of the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council. Any Bangladeshi can avail the opportunity to go to Mahkota Medical Centre or any partner hospital through GD Assist, the press release added.
MMC was among the first cancer centres in Southern Malaysia to offer cancer treatment in 1994. Since then, the centre has treated more than 200,000 patients. The patient-centred care in MMC involves patient navigators and other personnel to help coordinate care and ease health-related burdens, including psychosocial issues like anxiety or financial stress, as well as patient education and empowerment.
The officials claimed the service provider produces good surgical outcomes through its experienced team of surgeons and anesthetists with a zero surgical site infection rate, the release added.
