Besides, a memorial session for the filmmaker will be held before the discussion which will be attended by pioneer film activist Syed Salauddin Jaki, eminent film maker Haidar Rizvi and BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky. President of Moviyana Film Society Belayet Hossain Mamun will preside over the event. The event is open to all.

Born on June 4 in 1949, veteran filmmaker and film society activist Badal Rahman passed away on June 11 in 2010. In his lifetime, he was enthusiastically involved with the film society movement in Bangladesh from the beginning. He was the director of the first full-length feature film for children in Bangladesh, ‘Emiler Goyenda Bahini’, which earned huge popularity among the viewers and critics even in the outside Bangladesh.

A couple of notable films made by late Rahman, those themed on children, including ‘Chhana O Muktijuddha’ and ‘Kathal Burir Bagan’ earned noteworthy credit from all concerns. He was a pioneer in conducting the first film appreciation course in the country. To note, Badal Rahman was also the president of the Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh till his demise.
