To pay tribute to late noted actor and elocutionist Golam Mustafa, who with his inspirational voice contributed exceptionally in the field of recitation, Bangladesh Abritti Samannay Parishad for the second time awarded 10 pioneer elocutionists with ‘Golam Mustafa Abirriti Padak’ (Golam Mustafa Recitation Award) for their extraordinary contribution to recitation.
Besides, seasoned actress Suborna Mustafa has also been honoured with the same award named after her father.
The award ceremony held on the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy premises in the capital on the death anniversary of Golam Mustafa on February 20. The event also included observing the first hour of Amar Ekushey February.
The recipients of this year’s award are Zia-ul-Haq, Tarek Salauddin Mahmud, SM Mohsin, Ruhul Amin Pramanik, Niranjan Adhikari, Kazi Madina, Dr Bhaskar Bandyopadhyay, Kazi Arif (Posthumous) and Rajat Rakkhit.
Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor attended the programme as the chief guest, while noted cultural personality Nasir Uddin Yusuf was present as special guest. At the programme Suborna Mustafa, the daughter of Golam Mustafa, recalled the memories of her father. Then, the chief guest and special guest greeted the award recipients with ‘uttorio’ (celebratory scarf) and handed over a cheque of 10 thousand taka and an award to each of them.
Suborna Mustafa expressed her feelings, “This award is not only given to the reciter, but also to the people who involved themselves with progressive culture of the country. It is obviously a pride for me that an award, named after my father, has also been given to me. I am grateful to all of them who have considered me for this award.”
