DHAKA: State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki today said the government would establish 'Joyeeta', a business venture, at every district to enable womenfolk to get deserving profit and play an important role for country's socioeconomic development. "The womenfolk have proved their abilities, expertise and efficiency by producing different kinds of attractive and quality products but they are not getting deserving profit due to lack of marketing facilities...To provide them women-friendly atmosphere, the government has planned to establish Joyeeta at every district of the country," she said. She was speaking as the chief guest while inaugurating Bandarban-based Joyeeta at Women's Affairs Directorate in the city's Eskaton area.
Chumki said the women entrepreneurs could play an important role for country's socioeconomic development by engaging themselves in Joyeeta activities. Acting Director General of Women's Affairs Directorate Mahmuda Sharmin Benu presided over the programme while Secretary of the ministry Nasima Begum spoke, among others. Successful women entrepreneurs are called "Joyeeta" (a Bengali word for successful women).
Joyeeta Onneshone Bangladesh - a government initiative introduced in 2009 - has had a tremendous impact on the society.
