There has not been any activity of sports in Chandpur district town for the last eight years due to absence of a responsible officer, said official sources. This has led to shelving of most sport activities in the town. It has hardly made any impact after the sports officer posted in Comilla has concurrently been given the responsibility of Chandpur. This officer has also been given fresh responsibilities for Laxmipur and Noakhali districts, added the official sources. Consequently, all the works in Chandpur district sports office have remained almost shelved. The official works of this office are done by head assistant Abdul Kuddus. But most of the time he remains outside of the office leaving the office locked, said neighbours.  Even, no sports goods are supplied to any school and college from this office annually, alleged some headmasters and principals in Chandpur.  The keenly interested players are losing their interests and knack for sports and games. There is also no post of assistant district sports officer nor upazila level sports officer in any of the eight upazilas of the district, said official sources.  As a result, a kind of vacuum and barrenness has long been prevailing in the sports arena in the entire district.
