Before participating at the 39th edition of the Moscow International Film Festival, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s much-talked-about film ‘Doob’ (No Bed of Roses) is set to compete at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). The 19th edition of the Shanghai festival has been scheduled to run from June 17 to 26. The film ‘Doob’, starring Indian popular actor Irrfan Khan and Bangladeshi Nusrat Imroze Tisha, will be premiered at the SFC Shanghai Film Art Center on June 22.
Besides ‘Doob’ from Bangladesh, a number of films from USA, China, Romania, Poland, Italy, Russia, Great Britain, Germany, Philippines, Japan, Iran will compete at the festival in the main competition category. Danish Auteur Bille August’s two-time Palme d’Or award winning film ‘The Chinese Widow’ will also be premiered in Competition.
About attending the Shanghai International Film Festival, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki wrote on his Facebook wall,”I am sharing another good news. In my childhood, I was stunned by watching Bille August’s Oscar and Palme d’Or award winning film ‘Pelle the Conqueror’ at the german cultural centre. Today when my film has been selected in the same competition with his new film, at that moment I feel overwhelmed like a fanboy.”
Bangladeshi production house Jaaz Multimedia and India’s Eskay Movies with Irrfan Khan’s IK Company have produced the film ‘Doob’.
To note, the film has also been chosen for the main competition of the 39th edition of the Moscow International Film Festival in Moscow. The festival is set to begin on June 22 and will end on June 29. l
