2 make confessional statement

Two young men, arrested in connection with the killing of a Jubo League leader in Rangamati, made confessional statements before a court in Khagrachhari yesterday, reports UNB. Chief Judicial Magistrate Rokeya Akter recorded the statements of the two arrestees---Runel Chakma and Junel Chakma-under section 164 and then sent them to jail.
Tarek Mohammad Abdul Hannan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said they gave elaborate description of the incident in their statements.
Earlier, on Friday, police arrested Runel Chakma and Junel Chakma from different parts of Chittagong and Dighinala upazila of Khagrachhari district in connection with the killing of Nayan, organising secretary of Rangamati sadar union unit Jubo League.
Following interrogation, police recovered the motorbike, owned by Nayan, from Maini River in Dighinala upazila.
Nayan, who used to carry passengers on his bike in exchange of money, was found dead alongside a road in Dighinala upazila on June 1.
Later, Bangalee settlers went on a rampage while heading towards a graveyard along with Nayan’s body for burial in Langadu upazila headquarters in Rangamati on the same day.
