A woman and her three children were found dead at a house at Ranabhola Batala in the city's Turag area early yesterday, reports UNB. The deceased were identified as Rehena Parvin, 34, wife of Mostafa Kamal and her three children - Shanta, 13, Arshi alias Arifa, 9, and 11-month-old son Saad. Mahbubey Khoda, officer-in-charge of Turag Police Station, said Mostafa Kamal returned home around 1:15 am and found Rehena hanging from the ceiling fan of his house while the three children lying on a bed in another room. On information, police recovered the four bodies from the house and sent those to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Reason behind the tragedy could not be ascertained immediately, police and local people said. The officer-in-charge, however, suspected that Rehena might have strangled her three children and then killed herself. The morgue sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital also made similar observations: “The three children were strangled to death while their mother took her life by hanging herself from a ceiling fan.” The throats of the three children were tied with three separate scarfs, Kafil Uddin, a neighbor of the victim said.
