In the past week, if you came to Kunming University of Science and Technology, you would see overseas students performing Huangmei Opera and Chinese martial arts. These programmes were part of the First Yunnan International Students Cultural Exchange Week.
The foreign students are from more than 20 countries, including the United States, Italy, India, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. During the Cultural Exchange Week, they were introduced to innovative educational and entrepreneurial achievements at Kunming University of Science and Technology. They also visited the provincial museum and learned about Yunnan’s history and culture, as well as its innovative development achievements. In addition, they participated in artistic and cultural exchange activities at a creative park, took a hiking tour of Fuxian Lake, and held a youth dream seminar based on the Belt and Road Initiative. They deepened their understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative through these exchanges.
As the first event of its kind in the province, the Cultural Exchanges Week was designed to strengthen mutually beneficial exchanges between Chinese and overseas students in Yunnan while also enhancing their cultural understanding and identities.
