BCB wants to make HPU and ‘A team’ busy round the year

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) formulated a comprehensive planning for Bangladesh A team and BCB High Performance Unit (HPU) team so that they could keep them in busy like the national team’s players round the year.Though these porgrammes, they could make their habituation at away conditions and get international level exposure before breaking into the national side.
In a bid to make such team or teams, BCB game development department held a meeting with the selectors of the BCB national selection panel, local coaches and other concern authorities.
The board will send its High Performance team to Australia to dovetail with the wickets and conditions in July.
The BCB inked a three-year-long deal with Simon Helmot. This Australian coach will soon come in Bangladesh after the Eid and join the high performance team as the head coach.
“Many planning are being done at this moment. We’re working on High Performance team. We’ve appointed new coaches at different levels. Simon Helmot will come again,” said Khaled Mahmud Sujon. “Under High performance, an A team’s tour will be made ahead, wherein some national team’s players will join there. We’ve a tour in Australia in July,” Sujon told reporters after coming out from the meeting.
“We’re trying to manage some more tours for them. Actually we always seek to keep the A team in games. But we want to play with those teams, who were not freed in our time. So, we could not arrange tour or tours for them despite having our desires,” he added.
The former skipper, who is also a board director, informed that Helmot is arranging this tour programme in Australia, wherein they will play a string of practice matches against some local and provincial teams besides their training.
Khaled Mahmud said that they want to prepare their pipeline in right veins so that they could bring out the future prospect of Bangladesh.
“The exposure for the future of Bangladesh and pipeline of the national team’s players are needed much. Practicing and playing at home condition are not good enough. So we’ve to play more games out of sub-continent especially in England, Australia and New Zealand,” Mahmud said.
Before entering into the national fold, these players could be fully prepared for the national team. We’re trying our best for them. If everything is okay they will then make several tours in this year,” he also said.
In September, New Zealand A team is scheduled to tour in Bangladesh. Both New Zealand Cricket Board (NZCB) and the BCB meanwhile penned a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding a reciprocal tour. Bangladesh will make their tour in New Zealand in the next year.
On the other hand, BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon said before flying for England to witness the opening match between Bangladesh and the hosts England at Oval on June 1 that their HP team will tour in England.
“Our HP team will tour very soon in England. Along with that, we’ll tour in two other countries,” Nazmul Hassan said.
It may be Asian countries such as India and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh are supposed to tour in the two neighbouring countries so many days.
