State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid yesterday directed the Power Cell to conduct a survey on how the consumers get happy with the electricity service, reports UNB. The directive came against the backdrop of nagging power cuts across the country despite the claim of Power Development Board (PDB) to have reached the highest benchmark of 9,471 MW electricity generation on Saturday night.
The junior minister was addressing a coordination meeting of the Power Division through the first-ever videoconference from Bidyut Bhaban in the city.
Power Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, PDB Chairman Khaled Mahmood, Power Cell Director General Mohammad Hossain and other top officials of the Power Division were present at the meeting.
The meeting was connected with all other power utilities and power generation agencies in and outside the capital except PDB through the videoconference.
The PDB could not be connected with the conference as it has not developed the system, said a top official at the Power Division.
Nasrul directly talked to the chiefs of different organisations, asked questions and gave different directives to them for the improvement of their services.
Asking the Power Cell director general to take an initiative to conduct a consumer satisfaction survey on electricity service, he said the aim of all utilities must be to satisfy their customers.
The state minister asked the officials of different organisations to develop the online system to reach consumers and build strong communications with them.
He expressed dissatisfaction over the poor progress of 'e-Filing System' in the run-up to introducing enterprise resources planning (ERP).
Mentioning that e-filing is one of the pre-requisites to introduce ERP, Nasrul said, "So, not only the IT-related officials, but also all top officials of the Power Division must have adequate knowledge for e-filing system," he said. The meeting was informed by different agencies that they have been sharing information with their customers through short massaging system.
