Two traders fined

A Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) mobile court conducted an anti-adulteration drive in the old city's Badamtoli area and fined a banana trader and a mango trader Tk 1 lakh for using harmful chemicals in fruits on Sunday, reports UNB. Besides, Armed Police Battalion (APBn) also conducted separate anti-adulteration drive in Gulshan and fined a superstore for selling goods without approval from Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sohrab Hossain of RAB-10 said the mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Md Anisur Rahman, raided a mango wholesale shop “Jhumur Enterprise” where they found presence of harmful chemical in mangoes. The magistrate fined owner of “Jhumur Enterprise” Jahid Hossain Tk 75,000, in default, he will have to suffer three months simple jail.
The mobile court also fined Rabjal Mia, owner of a banana wholesale shop, Tk 25,000, in default, he will have to suffer one month jail.
