A Barisal court yesterday noon sentenced two, including a woman, to death and one to life term for killing a man. The death sentenced accused were identified as Momotajo Begam and her lover Kalam Hawladar. Life sentenced accused is Rajib Rari of Tum Char village under Bandar police station of Barisal. The court also fined them Tk one lakh each. Rakibul Islam, second additional judge of Barisal, handed down the verdict in presence of the accused under Section 302 of penal code after examining 14 witnesses and other evidences and documents. Public prosecutor Advocate Md Giyas Uddin Kabul said victim Swarup Ali of Tum Char area under Barisal metropolitan was a fisherman. His wife engaged with love affair with local motorcycle driver Kalam Hawader. After hearing the fact Swarup Ali rebuked both of them. At one stage Momotaj, Kalam and Rajib Rari, nephew of Kalam Hawlader planned to kill Swarup Ali. According to the plan they killed Swarup while he was sleeping on March 11, 2015 night. Later they threw the body in a canal and police recovered the body next day. Asraf Ali Mrridha, brother of victim, filed a murder case with Barisal Bandar thana in this regards accusing the three. Police arrested them and all the three were gave statement to magistrate under section 164.
