Police yesterday cordoned off two houses in Genda area of Savar, on the outskirts of the capital, suspecting those as militant hideouts, reports UNB. The law enforcers said they suspect a few ‘militants’ have been staying in the ground floor of a five-storey building, owned by one Anwar Molla, a local trader.
Police cordoned off the building around 7:30pm, said Ashraful Azim, Additional Superintendent of Police in Dhaka district, adding that they have asked the local people to stay vigilantly.
Bedsides, a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) along with Dhaka police surrounded another building owned by Shakib, a banker, in the same area around 9:30pm, said additional deputy commissioner of the CTTC unit Zahid Hossain.
Meanwhile, the law enforcers found a suicidal vest and bomb making ingredients from a room of the second floor on the under construction six-story building while another room was found locked, he added.
They will conduct further drives in the two suspected militant dens on Saturday morning, added the police official.
