RANGPUR: Bangladesh has already turned into a global role model for development of women and children in eradicating social curses and ensuring safe maternity, maternal and neonatal health services, pure drinking water and sanitation, reports BSS. This view was expressed at an orientation workshop organised for the leading personalities by District Information Office (DIO) in Durgapur Union Parisahd auditorium under Mithapukur upazila on Monday afternoon.
Senior District Information Officer (DIO) Humayun Kobir presided over the workshop arranged under fourth-phase of the Maas Communication Programme for Development of Children and Women Project. Mithapukur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mamun-Ar-Rashid attended the workshop as the chief guest. Assistant information officer of District Information Officer Tasmia Tamanna delivered the welcome speech narrating the goals and objectives of the workshop. UNO Mamun-Ar-Rashid delivered presentation on ‘Prevention of dowry, child marriage, drug abuse and militancy’ in the workshop and the laudable successes already achieved in these sectors during the past eight years. Mithapukur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Hirombo Kumar Roy delivered his presentation on ‘Maternal and child health care and safe maternity, safety of women and children during natural disasters, autism and mental health of the children.’ Besides, Senior DIO Humayun Kobir delivered presentation on ‘Sanitation, birth registration and protection of environment’ in the workshop.
