Studying in Canada

A Bangladeshi Canadian student-based platform ‘Prospective Bangladeshi Students in Canadian Universities’ (PBSCU) has recently inducted its 50,000th member, says a press release.
Since 2012, the Facebook-based group has been serving Bangladeshi students who wish to pursue their higher studies in top Canadian universities at all levels, including undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral.
The moderators, mostly current students and alumni of different Canadian universities, try their level best to advise and guide prospective students from Bangladesh.
“When you look at the quality of the universities and colleges in Canada, and immigration opportunities, Canada is the number one choice for international students, including those from Bangladesh. Over the years, more than 2,000 Bangladeshi students came to Canada with full funding package for higher studies through this platform. Those students are now helping their juniors to pursue their dreams,” said Abdullah Al Maruf, founder of PBSCU who earned his PhD from the University of Toronto.
“The aim of the platform is to give free advice to students who are planning to study in Canada. We do not take any money for our services. We want more students to come to Canada for higher studies, possibly with full funding,” said Masum Chowdhury, one of the moderators of PBSCU and a graduate of Seneca College.
The application process to Canadian universities is a bit different, compared to institutions in the USA or Europe. This platform has posted step by step guidelines detailing the entire university admission procedure, providing detailed information about application dos and don’ts, managing supervisors, living costs in different Canadian provinces and any other relevant information required by a student during higher studies in Canada.
The platform has also founded an alumni association, Canadian Alumni Association of Bangladesh, with an aim to build a common ground for all Bangladeshi students to build a stronger and united community all over Canada.
