18 DU students get scholarship
The annual scholarship giving ceremony of Dhaka University '69 Batch was held recently on Dhaka University Alumni Association premise, says a press release. Total 18 physically challenged students of various departments of Dhaka University were awarded special scholarship at the ceremony. The programme was presided over by its president Abu Noor Md Bahaul Huq. Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Saleh Uddin Ahmed, Secretary General Prof ASM Giasuddin, Former President Iqbal Ahmed Chowdhury, Rafia Akhter Dolly, Former Secretary General Sultana Rebu and members of the forum were present.
Daylong DIA ICT Fest held
The Daffodil International Academy (DIA) Programming Club organised daylong ‘DIA ICT Fest 2017’ on Monday at Daffodil International Academy
The festival included seminar on entrepreneurship, roundtable on freelancing, programming competition, software project showcasing, programming, gaming and quiz contest. The event was concluded with an award presentation ceremony. The day-long ICT Fest was officially inaugurated by Md Sabur Khan, chairman of Daffodil Family. The event was presided over by Md Shahinur Alam, president of DIA Programming Club. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Executive Director, Md Sarwar Hossain Mollah, Deputy Academic Director, DIA, Shoeb Mohammad, Country Ambassador of Payoneer, Sharif Md Shajahan, Rubel Hamza and Ratul Dev, addressed the programme as Special guests. 250 student-learners participated in the event where 15 IT Projects were showcased.
Lecture series held at ULAB
The Centre for Advanced Theory at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) launched its Visiting Professor Lecture Series on Saturday, says a press release. Prof HM Jahirul Haque, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, officially launched the series and delivered the welcome speech. On this occasion, Professor Marcus Banks, an internationally renowned anthropologist, who works at the Institute of Social & Cultural Anthropology, University of Oxford, made a presentation titled, ‘Jains and Jainism: Anthropological Approaches’. Dr Banks' presentation was followed by a lively session of open discussion, participated mostly by students from different universities. Dr. Marcus Banks, in his illustrious career, has conducted research on Visual Anthropology; Indian Urban Society and Jainism; Ethnicity, Nationalism and Neo-nationalism. Prof Akhtar Ahmed, Registrar and Head of Administration of ULAB presented university crest to the visiting professor. Prof Salimullah Khan, the Director of the host organisation delivered the vote of thanks in the programme.
