HC asks govt to withdraw
3 RAB men

The High Court yesterday asked the authorities concerned to take departmental action against three members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) for not producing an arrestee before the court within 24 hours of arrest. The HC bench also asked the authorities to send the trio to their headquarters after withdrawing them from their present working places. The three RAB officials are now working at RAB-3. The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shohidul Karim also asked the authorities to withdraw the three- Major Fahim Adnan Siddique, ASP Md Abdur Rakib Khan, and senior warrant officer Dejendra Chandra Deb- from RAB-3 and send them to their main forces.  The HC came up with the order during the hearing on a petition filed by one Rashed Khan, who was arrested by RAB-3 in connection with a human trafficking case but was not produced before the court within 24 hours. On January 7 this year, the RAB-3 men arrested three persons---Shelumuzzaman, Shahidul Islam and Anwarul Islam--- on charges of human trafficking. Later, the RAB officials also arrested 16 others including Rashed Khan and produced them before a court on January 20. The court sent them to jail on the same day. Rashed Khan filed a petition with the court seeking cancellation of the case as the RAB officials did not produce him before the court within 24 hours.
