Fahad, a student of class-II at Borochouna Shaheen School in Sakhipur, is now groaning in pain in a hospital bed with his right arm fractured by his teacher.
Local people put the school under lock and key on July 27 in protest of the brutality. Fahad Sikder is the son of Badsha Sikder of village Chotanpara in Sakhipur upazila.
Lutfor Rahman, uncle of Fahad, said Bailey Akhter, a teacher of the school caned the kid mercilessly a few days ago. Though carrying cane in the class is prohibited by law of the country the teacher used it on Fahad with such brutality that his right arm got fractured.
Lutfor Rahman said the boy was first taken to Dr Nazmul Hossain of Sakhipur Upazila Hospital; but later, he was shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. There infection in his arm was detected and operated upon by Surgeon Moklesur Rahman. The incident has raised uproar in the locality; and the people there have put the school under lock and key in protest.
Mother of the victim, Farida Akhter, said she is worried about the future of her son as he has become very weak and scared. “The boy has been passing days in agony and keep telling her that he would not go to school again,” she said
Meanwhile, Bailey Akhter, the accused teacher, has denied the allegation saying on the day of the incident, when two kids were quarrelling she had scolded them. Headmaster and director of the school Jalal Uddin also denied the allegation brought against the teacher. Jamal Uddin, also the chairman of Borochouna UP, visited the school on Monday. He is trying to settle the matter through a village arbitration.
