Bail, remand prayers in Rizvi’s arson case rejected

A court in capital yesterday rejected both the bail and the remand prayers for and against BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in two cases filed with the city’s Motijheel Police Station on charges of arson attack, reports UNB. Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Shamsul Arefin passed the order after hearing separate petitions for his bail and remand. The court also asked the investigation officer to interrogate Rizvi at the jail gate within two working days. On July 16, defence lawyer Mohammad Sanaullah Miah filed the bail petition in the case with the court while the two investigation officers sought a 20-day remand for Rizvi in the two cases. Earlier, two cases were filed against Rizvi with the Motijheel Police Station in connection with arson attack on January 8 and January 18 during the countrywide blockade.
