War crimes accused Mohammad Abdul Latif Talukder of Bagerhat died at the city’s Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early yesterday, reports UNB He was 75. DMCH sources said Latif, who had long been suffering from old age complications, breathed his last around 3:30am. Latif Talukder was admitted at DMCH on July 23. Latif Talukder was a resident of Sholakia village of Kochua upazila in Bagerhat district. On June 23, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) concluded the hearing of arguments from both sides on the trial of 1971 war crimes allegedly committed by three men of Bagerhat, including Abdul Latif, and kept its verdict pending for any day. The two others accused are Sheikh Sirajul Islam and Khan Akram Hossain. The trio Razakars are facing seven charges, including killing, mass killing, torture and arson attack, during the Liberation War.
