Govt tries to interfere in SC affairs, alleges CJ

Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha yesterday alleged that the government was trying to interfere in Supreme Court affairs. Saying that the SC authorities have been facing obstacles by the administration at every step whenever they try to reform the judiciary, the chief justice affirmed that such hindrance will not be tolerated.  The chief justice was addressing a judicial conference at Bogra circuit house yesterday. Categorising the faults of the government in terms of formulating laws, the chief justice said the people were regaining their confidence in the judiciary as it was going through reforms.
Alleging that the government hurried in formulating some laws, he said that the law commission was not communicated while formulating some sensitive laws.
Bogra Senior District and Sessions Judge Safiqur Rahman presided over the programme. Among others, SC registrar General Syed Aminul Islam spoke on the occasion.
