Leopard beaten dead in Kushtia
Kushtia: A leopard was beaten to death by locals at Aburi village in Mirpur upazila on Monday morning, reports UNB.
Assistant sub-inspector Alamin, in-charge of Malidah police camp, said the leopard used to invade the village sometimes for the last few days. It entered a water pipe after being chased by locals in the morning. Later, the villagers caught and beat it, leaving it dead on the spot.
One killed in road accident

A man was killed and three others were injured as a private car-collided head-on with a bus in Bypass Darun area in the district town yesterday noon.
The victim was identified as car driver Fatik Miah, 40. Elenga highway police camp sergeant Jahangir Hossain said the accident occurred when a bus collided head-on with the private car in the area, leaving the car driver dead on the spot and three other passengers of the vehicle injured. The injured were sent to Tangail Medical College Hospital.
20,000 yaba tablets seized

Detectives in separate drives recovered 20,000 yaba tablets and arrested two people in the district town on Sunday evening.
Police said tipped off, a team of DB police conducted a drive in Chachra intersection area and arrested Nur Hossain, 30, son of Suruj of Siddirganj upazila in Narayanganj district, along with 10,000 yaba tablets.
Besides, another team of DB police arrested Jahidul Islam, 31, hailing from Jhikargachha upazila, along with 10,000 yaba tablets at Halsa Bazar in the evening. Meanwhile, DB police also arrested two young men- Mandar Khandaker 35, and Sohel along with 30 bottles of phensidyl.
Body recovered in Jessore
JESSORE: A bullet-riddled body of a youth was recovered
from Manirampur upazila of the district yesterday,
reports BSS.
The deceased was identified as Ataur Rahman, 30, hailed from Bagdanga village of the upazila. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Monirampur Thana Mokarram Hossain said, on information, they recovered the body from a Rice Mill at Pariali village. The body was sent to Jessore 250-bed General Hospital. A case was filed with Manirampur Thana in this connection.
33 arrested in Dinajpur
DINAJPUR: Police, in special drives from Monday night to this morning, arrested 33 persons including three activists of Jamaat-E-Islami, two drug traders, and recovered illegal drugs- 302 bottles of Phensidyl, 200 pieces of yaba tablets and 12,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets - from 10 upazilas of the district, reports BSS.
Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district. During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested seven persons including two drug traders with 42 bottles of Phensidyl syrup, Khansama two, Birganj four, Kaharole three, Hakimpur police three, Birampur police arrested two accused, Phulbari Thana police two, Chirirbandar police arrested five including three activists of Jamaat-E-Islami, Parbatipur Thana police two and Ghoraghat police arrested three accused.
Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive also recovered 260 bottles of Phensidyl and 12,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets from Hili railway station in Hakimpur upazila in an abandoned condition during the period. Dinajpur Sadar Thana police in a drive recovered 200 pieces of Yaba tablets from the upazila in an abandoned condition during the period.
