Heavy rain submerged many streets of the port city Chittagong yesterday, leaving the normal life in disarray, reports UNB. The low-lying areas of the city, including Muradpur, Chakbazar, Sholosohor, Agrabad and Halishohor areas, went under knee-deep water due to the torrential rain that started early Friday and continued till 10 am, causing immense sufferings to the city dwellers. People were seen crossing the roads by rickshaw or wading through the knee-deep water in the city. According to the local Met office, 32 millimeter rainfall was recorded in three hours from 7 am to 10 am. Meanwhile, the Met Office said, due to frequent thunderstorm activities heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at places over Mymensingh, Sylhet, Dhaka, Barisal and Chittaging divisions during 21-24 April.
