Daffodil International University (DIU) clinched the three match T20 series against United Arab Emirate’s Falcons Cricket Club (UAE Falcons Cricket Club).
DIU team defeated Falcons Cricket Club by 128 runs in the deciding and third match yesterday at the DIU campus ground in the capital, according to a press release. The winners won the toss and elected to bat first to collect 278 runs losing 4 wickets in stipulated 20 over. In reply they restricted the visitors to a moderate 150 runs and got the victory.
Sajal (116) and Niloy (97) were the two leading scorers for DIU. UAE Falcons Cricket Club Garry with 48 was the top scorer for UAE Falcons while Abdullah followed him with 44 . Shahin Kabir of DIU team claimed four wickets. Sajal of DIU team was adjudged the ‘Man of
the Match’.
In the first match DIU team defeated UAE Falcons Cricket Club by 17 runs and in the second match UAE Falcons Cricket Club defeated DIU team by 5 wickets.
Prof. Dr AKM Fazlul Haque, Registrar, Daffodil International University, distributed prizes as chief guest. Ishaque Mijee, deputy registrar Irfan Ansary, coach cum manager of UAE Falcons Cricket Club were also present during the closing ceremony. In a formal speech of coach of UAE Falcon Cricket Club, Irfan Ansary praised the sporting facility of the field and green campus of Daffodil International University.
Earlier Prof Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, vice chancellor of Daffodil International University, inaugurated the T20 series on July 24.
