Man to die for killing

GAZIPUR: A court here on Sunday sentenced a man to death for killing his colleague in Gazipur in 2011. AKM Enamul Haque, the district and session judge of Gazipur, passed the verdict against Mohammed Abdul Halim, 26, a worker of ‘Hanif Spinning Mill’ in Mouchak area under Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur. The court also fined the convict Tk 10,000. Public prosecutor of Gazipur advocate Haris Uddin Ahmed said Mohammed Masud Miah, 16, was a worker of the same factory. He lived with his family in a rental house owned in Dulipara area of the upazila. On March 16 in 2011, police recovered the slaughtered body of Masud from air return dust section of the ground floor of the factory.
Father of the deceased Shah Alam filed a case with Kaliakoir police station accusing some unidentified men. Later, investigation officer of the case and sub inspector of Kaliakoir police station Mohammed Saiful Alam arrested Abdul Halim as a suspected accused. Halim later admitted his involvement in the murder. Police submitted the charge sheet against Halim on May 14 in 2011.
