DPL boosts Tigers’ perfect preparation

Tamim Iqbal (L) and Mushfiqur Rahim hits centuries in their respective first DPL matches 2017 for MSC and Legends of Rupganj.

Bangladesh team manager Khaled Mahmud Sujon on Wednesday said that they have to set their mindset so that they could win match or matches by chasing big scores at Oval surface.
“So far as I know the condition at Oval is a flat wicket, where more runs are scored. It is always almost 300 plus runs. Even 375 runs are being scored at this ground. So, we will have to prepare for that so that we could win by chasing big total,” said Khaled Mahmud.
“We have to keep it in minds. It is good thing that one-day matches  will be held on flat wicket. Our boys are scoring runs in Dhaka Premier League (DPL), which is held on flat track,” Sujon told media.
The eight-nation competition is scheduled to kick off June 1, in where Bangladesh will embark on their Champions Trophy campaign with the hosts England. The opening day’s clash between the two sides will be held at the historical ground of Kennington Oval in London.
Before heading into the extravaganza event, they will hold a 10-day pre-conditioning camp in Sussex to make their habituation with the weather condition. During their stay at camp, they will play two practice matches, the first of which will be played against Duke of Norfolk on May 3 and the second against Sussex County Cricket Club on May 5.
Tigers will then fly for Dublin to play a tri-nation with the hosts Ireland and New Zealand. Therefore they will come back again in England and play another two practices matches against two heavyweights Asian sides. Both matches will be held at the main ground of Kennington Oval in London, first of which will be played against Pakistan on May 27 and then India on May 30.
Bangladesh will take off for England on April 26, over one month before the showcasing event. The bulk of the key players of Bangladesh team have been performing in DPL and contributed to their respective side by scoring runs. They of course will play another one or two rounds games before flying for England.
Khaled, who is also board director said that practice matches before and after Tri-nation series along with Dhaka Premier League (DPL) matches will be helpful for their players ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy-2017.
“We’ll get a 10-day preconditioning camp in Sussex before the Champions Trophy. It will help much for the team. We’ll play two practice matches at the time of the camp. Then we’ll play a tri-nation with Ireland and New Zealand. I think we are ready for the Champions Trophy,” Mahmud said.
“After coming back in England again, we’ll play another two practice matches against Pakistan and India at Oval. It will be beneficial for us. Actually any sort of practice match prior to the biggest tournament will be helpful for the team,” he also said.
“The confidence level of our boys will be boosted after playing in Dhaka Premier League (DPL), which is the most competitive cricket in our domestic circuit. Mashallah, Tamim made big scores. Mushfiq, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat are in runs. Actually it is good sign that all the boys are in runs,” he added.
Khaled said that they did not want to break the combination of their one-day team who has been playing better cricket since last few years.
“We’ve almost a set-up. The combination is almost completed. We’ll form our team keeping that in minds. Actually we’ve a combination that is ready. We have been playing a better cricket,” he thought.
“We played a competitive cricket in Sri Lanka. In one day, we’ve a well-furnished team. At best there will have just a fine-tuning. I think there will be no chance for major changing in the ODI team,” he said.
“I think there will be no new player. We evaluate experienced players. We will keep the condition in England in minds,” he added.
