Tour of Sundarbans

The Department of Law of Dhaka International University (DIU) recently arranged a study tour to the Sundarbans, a UNESCO world heritage site.
More than a hundred students participated in the tour from March 25-27 to the Sundarbans where they visited Karamjal, Katka, Kokilmoni, Kachikhali, Tiger Point, Jamtola beach, Harbariya eco-tourism spot and more.
The trip gave the students a relief from the hustle and bustle of monotonous city life. During the three-day visit, the students got the opportunity to observe closely the life and livelihoods of people who are dependent on the Sundarbans and the rich biodiversity of the mangrove forest and its wild resources.
“Education from the field is more effective than classroom learning and this time we learned a lot from nature. Sundarbans is like our mother who saves our lives during natural disasters,” Rezwana Nishat Leana, a 5th semester student of LLB (Hons), said.
Masum Ahmmed, another second year student of LLB (Hons), added that environmental law students would benefit from this kind of field trip. “We must take care of our natural resources for our future generations,” he said.
