Five shot as rivals clash in Kishoreganj

At least five people received bullet injuries during a clash between two rival groups over land dispute in Kishoreganj town yesterday. Police quoting local people said there was a longstanding dispute over a piece of land between Kanchan Bhuiyan and his step-brother Ruhul Amin of Sholakia Saheb Bari area in Kishoreganj town.  Both the groups engaged in an altercation at about 2: 30pm yesterday. At one stage, supporters of both the groups started fighting with guns, leaving five of them bullet injured. Of the injured, one Harun-or-Rashid was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College in critical condition while four others were taken to Kishoreganj Modern Sadar Hospital. Supporters of Ruhul Amin also allegedly set fire to a house of Kanchan Mia and looted valuables. Mir Mosaraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kishoreganj sadar, said additional police were deployed to avert any further clash.
